Upswing helps NC A&T retain students & save money

NC A&T experienced rapid growth in on-campus tutoring through its Center for Academic Excellence, but struggled to find ways to provide support for niche and upper-level courses. Through focus group data, they also found most students were studying during the hours of 12 a.m. to 3 a.m. when the on-campus Tutorial Lab was closed.

They needed a 24/7 academic support solution that would allow their diverse student body to not only choose the services that fit their own unique needs, but to also access those services on their own time and personal devices.

Flexible wraparound services for community colleges

Community college students encounter unique challenges, including the difficulty of juggling college alongside work or family commitments. Upswing offers flexibility that enables community college students to access support services while effectively managing their work, school, and personal life.

We’ve partnered with 58 two-year institutions and given more than 1.3 million community college students access to the platform, preventing more than 24K students from dropping out. Hear more how Richmond Community College utilizes Upswing to improve equitable access.

Overcome obstacles to persistence and graduation

Upswing is proud to partner with 29 HSIs and 16 HBCUs. Despite enrollment growth, the completion rate of Black and Hispanic students is still much lower than those of White students. Through our work, Upswing has seen the following impact:
